Addressing Challenging Behavior
Introduction
Often times children with NAS have increased behavioral challenges as they are developing. It is beneficial for all parents to know strategies to positively address challenging behaviors while teaching new appropriate skills. The Addressing Challenging Behavior modules focus on how to prevent these challenges which will create better outcomes for the child as well as reducing caregiver stress. The Addressing Challenging Behavior Module also identifies ways to calm an incident once it has occurred in a productive manner that helps the child learn new skills.- • Utilize basic strategies for identifying, teaching, and promoting effective replacement behaviors and coping skills
- • Support participants in gaining an understanding of assessment tools and intervention practices that can be integrated within a comprehensive, evidence-based behavioral intervention program.
